Shockwave and Cupping Therapy

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses gentle acoustic (sound) waves to stimulate your body's natural healing process. It can help reduce pain, improve movement, and encourage healing in injured tendons, muscles, ligaments, and other soft tissues—all without injections or surgery.

When the sound waves are applied to the painful area, they increase blood flow, stimulate your body's repair cells, and help break the cycle of long-term pain. Many people notice gradual improvement over several weeks as their body continues to heal.

Shockwave therapy has been studied in hundreds of scientific research papers and is commonly used to treat conditions such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, tennis elbow, shoulder tendon pain, calcific shoulder tendinopathy, and other chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Treatment sessions are quick, require little to no downtime, and most people can return to their normal daily activities immediately afterward. For many chronic injuries that haven't responded to rest or other treatments, shockwave therapy can be an effective option to help reduce pain, restore function, and get you moving again.

Shockwave Therapy has been shown to help with:

  • Lateral epicondylopathy

  • Greater trochanteric pain syndrome

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Achilles tendinopathy

  • Patellar tendinopathy

  • Medial tibial stress syndrome

  • Hamstring tendinopathy

  • Knee osteoarthritis

  • Myofascial trigger points

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is a hands-on treatment that uses specially designed cups to create gentle suction on the skin. This suction lifts the skin and underlying tissues, producing a pulling sensation that may help relieve muscle tension, reduce pain, and improve mobility.

During treatment, cups are placed on selected areas of the body, such as the back, shoulders, neck, or legs. Depending on your needs, the cups may remain in one position for a short time or be gently moved across the skin.

Research suggests that cupping therapy may help reduce pain and improve physical function in some people with musculoskeletal conditions. It may be helpful for those experiencing:

  • Muscle tension and tightness — to help ease feelings of tightness and discomfort.

  • Neck and shoulder pain — to support relief from everyday aches and muscular discomfort.

  • Back pain — as part of a treatment plan to help manage back discomfort and improve movement.

  • Restricted mobility — to complement stretching and movement exercises.

  • Muscle soreness — to help manage discomfort following physical activity.

Cupping may influence local blood flow and how the nervous system processes pain. Researchers are still investigating exactly how these effects work and how much they contribute to recovery.

Cupping typically feels like a pulling or stretching sensation on the skin. The treatment is adjusted to your comfort level and the area being treated.

After treatment, you may notice temporary circular marks or skin discoloration where the cups were placed. These marks are common and generally fade over several days to two weeks.
