Pregnancy Care
Pregnancy is an amazing time, yet can be challenging to the pregnant person. When the pelvis is in alignment and moving well, the pregnant person is more relaxed, and baby has lots of room to move. If the pelvis is misaligned or not moving well, the pregnant person may feel more pressure in their pelvis and lower back, and baby may have less room to move around. Baby may become stuck in a less-than-ideal position and not have the room to move.
The Webster technique was developed specifically with pregnant people in mind. What is the Webster Technique and how can it help during pregnancy? Dr. Larry Webster, DC developed the Webster Technique over 30 years ago and it involves a specific assessment of the pelvis, how to correct the pelvis if misaligned, and related soft tissue releases that may be needed to help balance the pelvis. This technique is beneficial for all people, but is especially helpful for the pregnant population. This method of assessment and gentle correcting of the misaligned pelvis can help reduce low back and pelvic pain throughout pregnancy. This can allow baby to have more room to move. The Webster Technique is taught specifically by the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association) and is a certification that is obtained separate from what is taught in chiropractic school.
