Dr. Amber Kenmuir, Chiropractor
Helping people of all ages feel better through specific, personalized chiropractic care.
Why Chiropractic?
Chiropractic care is not just about relieving discomfort and getting you moving better, although that is a big reason why we do what we do. Ultimately, what chiropractic does is help your body feel and function better. By adjusting the spine and other joints of the body, we release areas of restriction that are preventing you from moving as you should. This helps relieve muscle tension, and shift your body so your body is being supported by your spine and skeletal structure, as it is supposed to be. But that is not all chiropractic does. Through specific, gentle chiropractic adjustments, we provide input into your nervous system, helping your brain better know how your body is functioning, so your brain can make the changes needed to get you functioning at it's best!
How do you adjust the body?
Chiropractic adjustments are used to move joints that are stuck and/or out of alignment, and get them moving and back in place again. Most people are familiar with traditional forms of adjusting, where the chiropractor uses their hands to find these areas of misalignment (or subluxation) and get them back in place. However, just like anything, there are more ways than one to do that. Dr. Amber uses tools to perform these adjustments as they work just as well as traditional forms of adjusting, but for many, can be more comfortable.
Methods of Adjusting

The Activator
The Activator is a spring-loaded adjusting tool that is used to shift bones and joints back into place instead of using a chiropractor's hands. It has different settings, so the adjustments can be tailored to each individual's needs. The tip is also small, allowing a more precise placement for the adjustment.

The Drop Table
The Drop Table is a specific kind of table, that has small sections that can pop up about a 1/2", that then drop back down when pushed on. Dr. Amber uses this mainly to adjust pelvic bones back in place. It allows Dr. Amber to guide the bones back in place as the table does most of the work. It is a very gentle but effective way of adjusting the pelvis.

Hands
While most adjusting is done using instruments, there are times when Dr. Amber may choose to do a more hands-on adjustment. This is usually to adjust non-spinal joints, like shoulders, knees, and feet.
